Corporate History

1850 Yonekichi Yamada started metal ornament processing business.
1907 Ginzou Yamada started metal pressing business.
September 1930 Yamada Manufacturing Factory Limited Partnership was established in Tokyo, and started manufacturing flashlights.
November 1945 Trade name was revised to Yamada Press Industry Limited Partnership, and started delivering flashlights to Toshiba. 
June 1961 Trade name was revised to Yamada Electric Ind. Co., Ltd.
April 1972 Established YAMADA Hong Kong. First overseas production site outside Japan.
July 1976 Established YAMADA Taiwan.
October 1989 Established Shenzhen Yamada Electric Co., Ltd., in Shenzhen, China.
October 1990 Shenzhen Yamada started operation.
June 1998 Closed YAMADA Taiwan and transferred its production capacity to Shenzhen Yamada.
July 2001 Established Yamada Unitec Co., Ltd. in Hong Kong, and started operation at its Shenzhen factory.
May 2007 Established YDK Hong Kong Limited, and started motor production at its Shenzhen factory.
December 2008 Established Yamada Precision Co., Ltd. in Shenzhen, China, to function as manufacturing factory for China domestic market.
April 2011 Purchased fishing gear business from Panasonic, and started “Hapyson” sales department in Osaka.
June 2011 50th year since its establishment of Yamada Electric.
November 2011 Converted Yamada Unitec Shenzhen factory to Yamada Unitec (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd.
November 2011 Established YAMADA-VISTAMEX in Guanajuato, Mexico. First production site outside Greater China to function as manufacturing factory for North America.
July 2012 Established YAMADA-LOM in Manaus, Brazil to function as manufacturing factory for South America.
October 2014 25th year since the foundation of Shenzhen Yamada.
